Juicy June

We discovered recently Jayda is afraid of small confined spaces like elevators, narrow hallways, and approaching closed doors. Random.

This month my aunt and uncle from Albuquerque, New Mexico visited Jacksonville so my brother, Joel and I (and our families) got to spend an evening with them. It was special to me because I haven't seen this uncle and aunt in a looong time (I think I was around 11 years old last time?).

Kallie & Donny

My friend Heather is the assistant director and teacher at a dance studio and I got to go to her end-of-the-year recital this year and it was so much fun! I had actually never been to a dance recital before. I've always wondered at what age kids can start sports like that and apparently Kallie is almost old enough! It's so crazy to imagine my child being old enough to DANCE. I might put her in gymnastics soon and then try dance when she's a little older.

Lately, whenever I see big families I get excited for Kallie and Jayda to grow and I imagine their personalities as big kids, as well as playing together with their (hopefully) other siblings.

Kallie called Donny before their play date to make sure they matched.

This month Brad's job took him to Texas for a week, and then to Scout camp the following week. Obviously, I survived to tell you about it. I tended to get lonely at night after the kids went to bed. During the days I got together with friends and family and had fun.

Jayda wears socks on her hands to keep from mangling sucking her thumb.

Jayda is 10 months old! Her doctor says she's healthy as a horse. The day after her 9 month check-up, I found out Kallie's due for a checkup too. So, two days after Jayda's appt we all went right back to the same doc for Kallie. I was definitely a bit annoyed that the doctor could have checked out both kids at the same time, but then he made me feel like an awesome mom. He praises my kids and my parenting every time we visit and I totally take it all in with pride.

Fell asleep on our way home from the pool

For Brad's birthday I took him paddle boarding (first time for both of us) and to a hibachi grill called Wasabi. Both were so much fun!

Ever since Jayda grew big enough to ride in the umbrella stroller Kallie HAS to push her. If we try to help she pushes away our hands and says, "Stop it! Take off!"

Taking the kids to the beach this summer has been an interesting experience. Sometimes it's gone well and other times I swear I'm not going back without Brad. Obviously most of the hassle is getting rid of the sand afterward. Every week I have to decide if I wanna try it again. I'm still not 100% committed to the weekly play date.

Our sand ball.

Last week was the weirdest bout of sickness I've ever had. I was actually sick on Mon, Wed, and Fri but not in between. I have the best husband in the world though. When I'm sick he (at the very least) comes home on his lunch break to take care of us and then of course does it again when he gets home from work. When he can, he works from home. This week, Kallie is sick. Poor thing has been exploding out of both ends for two days. And get this: the washing machine broke on the same day Kallie threw up on every bed sheet, pillow and blanket we have. I'm finding the blessings though: The washer was only out of service for a day; the repair guy came quick and it was an easy fix. Kallie and I were not sick at the same time. That would have been a complete nightmare.

Stuck.

My friend Molly made a chocolate pound cake that was to DIE for. I tried making it for a baby shower but it stuck to the pan and completely fell apart as I took it out. I bought a replacement cake at Costco. Saved this one though; it still tastes great. Chocolate cake is the breakfast of champions right before hitting the gym.

Jayda can play piano with all sorts of body parts.
