McGary Madness

The other day I put Jayda in her swaddle blanket and as I was kissing her goodnight the velcro on her blanket stuck to my brand new shirt and snagged it. I was so sad I shed two tears.

When I start to vacuum the dining room Kallie crawls under the table and tries to eat as much as food on the floor as she can before I vacuum it up.

Jayda is scared of the vacuum. We took a video of it with our camera but now we can't find the camera. *sniff*

Brad and I use any excuse we can think of to rationalize doing/buying what we want. The weekend of the Gate River Run we went to the Olive Garden to "carbo load" the night before, and then the next night we went to Longhorn Steak House to "celebrate" the race.

Yep, we both ran the Gate River Run this year. I ran my first 5k with my friends Molly and Robin and our husbands ran the 15k. My brother came with us and watched the kids while we ran. I was so nervous I would have to go to the bathroom during the race but it turns out being nervous makes me have to go to the bathroom so it's taken care of before the race even starts :D There were a TON of port-a-potties lined up in a row but I still had to wait in line for 20 minutes to use one. As soon as I finished I BOOKED it to my race (while talking on the phone to Molly cuz I had no clue where to go!) and arrived as the last people were crossing the starting line. Molly waited for me at the back so we spent the first part of the race trying to pass up all the walkers.

Molly was sick and pushing her toddler so she ran at a perfect pace for me since I hadn't ran in 3 weeks. I got a bad side ache toward the end but my only goal was to run the whole thing without walking so I figured out a way to jam my thumb into my side and make it bearable until the end. Considering all the circumstances I was surprised we finished in 40 minutes. Joel, Kallie and Jayda were waiting for us at the finish line!

Brad finished his 15k in about an hour and a half and right after he crossed the finish line all the racers ahead of him had piled up and halted so as he was forced to stop really fast, he turned to the side and puked his guts out. This is how he really felt:

One night while Brad was helping Kallie say bedtime prayer they thanked Heavenly Father for a few things and it continued on like this:
Brad: "We thank Thee"
Kallie: "Dake Dee"
Brad: "For family"
Kallie: ..............
Brad: "For family"
Kallie: ..............
Brad and I opened our eyes to an empty spot where Kallie was and we turned just in time to catch a glimpse of her diaper swooshing out the bedroom door. We laughed for about 3 minutes before getting serious and scolding her for leaving during a prayer.

I made a goal this year to only spend money on things I LOVE. I have a horrible habit of buying things I think are "okay" because I'm too impatient to look for the things I love. It usually pertains to clothes and shoes. I return a lot of merchandise.

Speaking of returning things (I don't feel guilty about this one) we returned our Phil & Ted's double jogging stroller because it didn't work out as well for us as we thought it would. In its place we bought a Baby Trend Sit n' Stand for about a quarter of the cost :D

Jayda's first two teeth are a little crooked. It's adorable.

Brad made a dessert that looked like garbage but  was very tasty. Basically a pile of cheerio, pretzel, marshmallow, chocolate goodness. Kallie saw the Pyrex casserole dish on the stove and pulled it down crashing to the floor sending shattered glass flying. Oh, and I was pretty confident we cleaned up all the glass but the next day I caught Kallie with a fairly large piece of it IN HER MOUTH.

Kallie the rock star doing some shopping

I've discovered one advantage to Kallie having a baby sister: jealousy. As I gave Jayda peas for the first time, even though she spit them out and made disgusted faces, Kallie was jealous and asked for some of the peas. I gave up trying to feed them to Jayda, passed the container over to Kallie and she ate them all! I was planning on refrigerating the baby food and trying again with Jayda the next day but how can I deny Kallie green veggies?

Recently I heard a song on the radio for the first time and I'm probably the last one in the world to hear it but I fell in LOVE. I consider myself a lover of music but at the same time, learning about musicians and seeking out new songs is far from the top of my priority list. If I happen to come across new stuff, that's great. When I fall in love with a song though, it can be dangerous. The day I heard this song I listened to it like 6 times and then it was stuck in my head for at least 4 days. By that time I almost hated it. Every second my mind was not preoccupied, this song played in my head and I could not get it out for the life of me.

I found a book from my childhood and ordered it online. I was surprised how fast it came and I'm so excited to read it to my kids!

We Skyped with Brad's parents and they had 9 out of 15 grandkids visiting for the week so there was a whole crowd of blonds around the computer. We were sad not to be there. It makes us look forward a few years when we'll hopefully move back west closer to family.

Penguins at the mall

I took the girls to the beach this week for the first time since Jayda was born. When my friend Robin asked if I wanted to go I was kinda scared. I didn't feel prepared to take two kids. But then I thought, I'll never feel prepared. I just have to go and figure out what I need for the next time. What's the worst that could happen? I have to leave shortly after arriving? So we went. And it was fun. And I thought of ways to improve our routine for next time. The season of our van turning into a sandbox is upon us!

I finally finished making Jayda's room into an actual nursery. Here are some pics of the room:

Brad made me breakfast in bed on my birthday and then surprised me with flowers and chocolates AND by taking me out to a really nice restaurant in downtown Jax called Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. The food was SO good!:

Cinnamon roll waffles with icing, syrup and homemade whipped cream. Can the sugary goodness get any better? Yeah, we don't have those fancy meal trays so we use cookie sheets.

Happy 25th Birthday Mrs. McGary!

And here are the rest of the random pictures:

Oh, and Happy Easter!

This was the only I could think of to hold up Jayda.
